Philanthropic investment analyst Peter Heegaard calculates that over a period of one year, the return on philanthropic investment in CommonBond’s Advantage Center services amounts to an amazing 51%. (For comparison’s sake, the S&P 500 year-to-date rate of return at press time was about 10.9%.) —from “An Investment Letter for Minnesota Philanthropists”

    Donate to CommonBond

CommonBond has two special initiatives for donors. Donors can also give to where money is most needed by making a general donation.

Alyssa Dooley, Race Home skaterRace Home Update

On August 2nd, Alyssa Dooley skated 26.2 miles in the St. Paul in-line marathon, working against the heat and high winds to make sure others could enjoy a sense of home. Her race was the first part of the Race Home fundraiser to benefit CommonBond Communities affordable homes with services. This fall, Alyssa will compete in another marathon for a total of 54.2 miles, continuing to collect pledges for every mile she skates. Make a pledge today and help Alyssa and CommonBond create a place to run home to.

    Read to Succeed

Former United Nations Secretary Kofi Anan once called literacy, “A bulwark against poverty and … a bridge from misery to hope.” CommonBond Advantage Centers provide residents this bridge, helping kids and adults cross over to reading. Our new “Read to Succeed” initiative supports programs that help residents improve reading and writing skills. We hope to raise $50,000 to support CommonBond Advantage Center programs like one-on-one tutoring for school aged children, teen book clubs, and ESL and citizenship training for all ages. Your gift will help build this essential steppingstone to success.
