Every year CommonBond gives an education scholarship sponsored by the family of a former employee,
 |
| Ms. Yussef with her Wayne Ross scholarship letter |
Wayne Ross, to support a CommonBond resident pursuing higher education.
This year, CommonBond is proud to announce the winner, Seward Tower resident Nimao Yussef.
Ms. Yussef received $500 towards her nursing degree at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
Ms. Yussef is a true example of how residents can use CommonBond's Advantage Services to succeed. She has worked with a volunteer tutor at the Advantage Center at weekly adult tutoring for over three years. She comes down to use the computer lab and fax machine to keep up with both school and daily life. She participated in the
Career Advantage Program, working to find and keep a living wage job. She now
works part time and goes to school full time to become a registered nurse.
When asked why she would like to be a nurse, she says she would like to make a difference for others the same way that the Advantage Center at Seward made a difference for her.
Congratulations to Niamo Yussef and all the other residents of CommonBond who use Advantage Services as a steppingstone to academic, financial and personal success.
