Section 42 - Tax Credit Housing

How Do I Apply?

To apply to a community below, click on "More Details" and then click the Apply For Housing tab.

CommonBond has Section 42 - Tax Credit housing in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Residents pay a set rent amount determined by the Area Median Income (AMI): income-qualifying residents who make 30-60% of AMI pay lower than market rate. Residents in these communities must prove they make enough income to pay the rent and meet our credit, criminal, and previous rental housing standards.

Communities followed by an (S) are for seniors.

Housing Programs

Section 42/Tax Credit: Section 42/Tax Credit assists median income households of all ages. The rent amounts for Section 42 or Tax Credit apartments are set based on 30%, 40%, 50%, or 60% of the median gross income for the area. 

Section 236: Section 236 provides housing to low income families, elderly, disabled and individuals under age 62. Rental fees are income-based, falling somewhere between minimum and market rates.
